An Actor's Plight by David Ackert

I had to share this with every artists and all those people who support us. Anytime the road gets bumpy or the fog comes in remember these words.
I had to share this piece with you guys. It's near and dear to my heart and I wanted my fellow artists to enjoy it as well;)

An Actor's Plight
"Actors are some of the most driven courageous people on the face of the earth.
They deal with more day to day rejection in one year than most people do in a
lifetime. Every day, actors face the financial challenge of living a freelance
lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get 'real' jobs, and
their own fear that they'll never work again. Everyday they have to ignore the
possibility that the vision to which they have dedicated their lives is a pipe
dream
. With every passing year, many of them watch as other people their age
achieve the predictable milestones of normal life - the car, the family, the
house, the nest egg. But they stay true to their dream, in spite of the
sacrifices. Why? Because actors are willing to give their entire lives to a
moment - to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that
will stir the audience's soul. Actors are beings who have tasted life's nectar
in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched
another's heart. In that instant, they were as close to magic, God and
perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to
dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes." - David Ackert

Sesame Street: 'U' is for Umpire

What an experience it was working on an iconic show like Sesame Street. Its funny when I submitted for it I thought there is no way that I look like the average MLB Umpire. Then I got called in and as I looked around the waiting room it seemed everyone else fit the role more than I did. And when I actually went before the Director Koyalee Chanda ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1010866/ ), I felt my improv during the audition made me look silly. Which made me feel even further from being the right person for the part. But one simple call from Producer Ann Taylor made me an 'U'mpire! Love working with everyone on this set;)

Cutting Room Floor - THE CAST

Directed by the ever so talented Jodie Lauren Miller, is currently in competition @ the Tribeca Film festival. Glad she thought enough of me to play a weak winy Adult male. Love her!

The Tea Party Candidate Who's Mouth is Bigger than His...

Love working with Dale Arroyo, crazy serious Director. Don't let the punch fool you Matthew Imparato is a freakishly large actor who could destroy most people on impact. Great for my confidence though;)

TCU Gets Kicked in the Nuts literally! Ouch!

Sam Morgan knows how to build a cast, does he not. PMSPORTS.com

"Grubbin with the Jocks" - A Cooking Show With Athletes

I had a wonderful time playing Prince Fielder in this comedy skit for PMSPORTS.com

RedZoneGirls 2011 Calendar Shoot starring my friend Rachael Lynn!

Celebrity Ghost Stories-Season2 Episode 08; Playing Kimberly Locke's father on Celebrity Ghost Stories

And to think I almost didn't get the part because the Casting Director said that I was too nice. I'm glad she took a shot on me;)
